Join us and let's make a real difference together. Shell is currently seeking Power Engineers for the Scotford Upgrader facility. Responsibilities: Monitor unit operations and troubleshoot process problems Execute unit objectives for the shift to meet the overall production and budget goals Make sound decisions based on operating procedures and standards Participate actively and constructively in safety meetings/ inspections and high potential pre-job safety meetings Ensure execution of safe work practices for activities within area of control Identification and intervention of unsafe work practices Complete unit HSE and Process Safety checks Work with Maintenance and Engineering for the execution of various maintenance tasks, clearly word work orders for execution by maintenance Maintain a working knowledge of the Emergency Response Manual and a clear understanding of roles as specified in the manual Read and ensure compliance to the Daily Operating Instructions Collect product samples for analyses Tank Dipping to confirm instrumentation accuracy May be required to support the Scotford Emergency Response Team Be able to trouble shoot equipment and processes in Process Areas Conduct unit field rounds (Intela Trac) Completion of operational daily activities schedule Requirements: Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis Minimum education required is Grade 12 diploma or equivalent Minimum 4th Class ABSA Power Engineering Certification Must possess a current, valid Class 5 Driver's license Must reside within 60 minutes of the site, or relocate without assisstance Must be able to climb ladders, walk up and down steps, and work at heights Must be able to work in compact and confined spaces Must be able to work while wearing self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) Must be willing to work outside in inclement weather Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing in English Must be willing to work a rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime Must be willing to support and abide by the Company's safety policies Must be comfortable in a role where daily use of computers is required Petrochemical experience is an asset Control Panel operating experience is an asset After submitting your application, if you are selected for further consideration you will be required to attend testing in the Edmonton, AB area at your own expense.
